Terms of Use

Last updated: February 21, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the FairTally website and app (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use it. FairTally is operated as a sole proprietorship.

1. The Service

FairTally helps you track shared expenses and split costs in ways that work for your relationship. We offer a website (including beta signup) and an app where you can create an account and manage your expense data. We may change or discontinue parts of the service with reasonable notice where practical.

2. Eligibility and account

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when you sign up. You may delete your account and associated data at any time (see our Privacy Policy).

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You may not:

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or for other reasons we consider appropriate.

4. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose. FairTally is a tool for tracking and splitting expenses; we do not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Use your own judgment and, where needed, consult a professional.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FairTally is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of data or profits, from your use of the service. Total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if you haven’t paid anything). Some places don’t allow these limits; there, liability is limited to the maximum the law allows.

6. Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or for other reasons. Disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law survive after termination.

7. Changes

We may update these Terms. The current version is on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We may give extra notice for big changes (e.g., by email). Continued use means you accept the new Terms; if not, stop using the service and delete your account.

8. General

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the full agreement between you and FairTally. If a court says part of these Terms is invalid, the rest still applies. These Terms are governed by U.S. and applicable state law.
